We manufacture Stora Enso pellets with the greatest priority on sustainability and product performance. We do this both in the way we source our raw materials, as well as through our efficient production process. The result is a 100% natural and renewable product to provide consistently effective heating with no harmful emissions.
Stora Enso’s commitment to sustainability starts by only using quality sawmilling by-products. We never produce our pellets from original cut trees. In fact, we almost always use only our own by-products that fall during regular sawing at our own sawmills.
Because our raw material is already “in house”, there is no transportation of the raw material by trucks to the pellet production. Furthermore, our pellet production is integrated directly along the saw line to ensure extremely low environmental impact.
Our commitment to sustainability is also visible in the pellets drying process. The drying takes place with low temperature hot air where, among other things, waste heat from the wood dryers is used. This is a clean drying process to ensure that all unknown particles are removed. Our clean drying ensures optimal low ash from the pellets at time of burning.
Already dry raw materials such as shavings and dry chips are mixed in appropriate proportions with dried sawdust and then ground to a fraction size suitable for pelleting. By controlling the flow through our pellet presses, we continuously achieve the highest pellet quality, including ideal volume weight and moisture content. This process produces pellets with no contamination from foreign particles, for minimal ash content. After the pellets are pressed, they are cooled down and then placed in our warehouse pending delivery to you.
